Cruise ships are basically floating cities with enough gourmet food options and activities to suit any lifestyle, day or night.

And with Royal Caribbean’s $165million transformation of Allure of the Seas, featuring the tallest slide at sea, that’s never been more true.

The ship, which will sail on 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises from its home port of Barcelona in May 2020, will include the 10-story-tall Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea. The slide features dark tubes, which are lit from the inside with funky colors that make you feel like you’re hurtling through space as you head down 216 feet over 13 seconds, according to Royal Caribbean International.

You’ll spiral 450 degrees in one of the two slides with a 27-degree incline, ensuring you hit an average G-force of 1.46, according to the cruise line.

The Ultimate Abyss slides are also installed on the Symphony of the Seas and the Harmony of the Seas.

Looking for even more adventure? The new Allure of the Seas will have three waterslides — “The Perfect Storm” as Royal Caribbean puts it — calaled Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell, as well as a reimagined pool deck with a pair of bars and a “wider variety of seating and shade with cabana-like 'casitas,' daybeds, hammocks and swing seats.”

Kids will have drench buckets and water cannons to play in, while adults can relax at the adults-only Solarium.

Inside, glow-in-the-dark laser tag will get your heart pumping and an “Apollo 18” space-inspired escape room will offer a fun challenge in between all that good food, sunbathing, and sightseeing.

After a long day of traipsing around Europe in cities like Palma de Mallorca and Florence, return to the ship for some pulled pork and mac and cheese from Portside BBQ or a cocktail made by a robot bartender at the onboard Bionic Bar by Makr Shakr, before singing the night away at the ship’s dedicated karaoke bar.

With all of these over-the-top activities, is it any wonder Royal Caribbean was selected as one of Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Mega-Ship Ocean Cruise Lines?
