Servia, a modern Eastern Mediterranean restaurant, is set to open in Boston’s Financial District (126 State St. — the Cunard building) on Tuesday, October 13, with casual, takeout-friendly breakfast and lunch. More upscale dinner service will begin on October 26.

The restaurant has been in the works for a while, originally slated for a fall 2019 opening with a focus more specifically on Turkish cuisine from chef Ozcan Ozan, of the now-defunct Sultan’s Kitchen, a downtown Boston mainstay that closed at the start of 2018.

Since the initial plan was announced, Servia has evolved to provide a broader overview of Eastern Mediterranean cuisines, with Claudio Cavalleri in the kitchen (of Patrizia’s Italy in Plymouth and Alchemy Bistro on Martha’s Vineyard) to bring a modern spin to the food. Ozan remains the inspiration for the restaurant and is working closely with Cavalleri on the menu. Derek Alten, an alum of the Tavern in the Square restaurant group and Night Shift Brewing, is also onboard as general manager.

The team is serving assorted pastries, spanakopita, Israeli bagels with labneh, and more for breakfast; soups, salads, kebab wraps, and ancient grain “pitza” (Italian pizza meets Turkish pide) for lunch; and meze and entrees like braised lamb shank and halibut in saffron broth for dinner. Wine, beer, and cocktails are also available. See the full menu below.

When it opens on October 13, Servia will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. six days a week. Once dinner service begins on the 26th, it will be available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. six days a week. Indoor dining and takeout will be available for all meals. The restaurant is closed Sundays.
